And then there was Full Pint: Years ago OSU developed an experimental 2-row called BCD47. Since it was resistant to stripe rust and leaf rust; it consistently gave plump seed; it was a semi-dwarf; and it had a solid malt profile, we entered it into the AMBA Pilot Program. For a number of reasons, it did not make it to AMBA Plant Scale or beer flavor trials. We used it extensively as a genetic stock and released it as PI 659444 - a source of mapped stripe rust resistance QTLs. Fast forward a couple of years…a local grower - Scott Sayer - wanted to get into spring malting barley and asked if there was one available with resistance to stripe rust. All we knew of was BCD47. Scott increased seed, we re-named it Full Pint, and away we go. Read up and Full Pint, and fill your glass:
